Chinese Chestnut, Castanea mollissima, bareroot seedings. These average about 14-28” in height in the first year or 2’-4’ in the second. Grown from trees with excellent bearing traits and quality nuts.

It can be overwhelming presented with so many choices! You can select Assorted Bundles of 10, 25, or 100 Chinese chestnut trees and I will make sure you get a diverse sampling of good genetics.

  • Ford's Sweet seedlings – said to be a timber-type Chinese Chestnut with sweet chestnuts similar in quality to American.

  • Etter mix – seedling mix grown from Fayette Etter's orchard of Chestnut cultivars. Fayette Etter was called “the Luther Burbank of nut trees” and introduced several great Chestnut cultivars such as “Abundance.”

  • Coble Orchard mix – seedling mix grown from Parker Coble's orchard of collected cultivars.

  • Green Lui – very attractive Chinese chestnut tree.

  • Pequea mix – seedling mix grown from a grove established in Pequea PA perhaps 60-75 years ago likely sourced from J.F. Jones or John Hershey's nursery.
